When a lump on the breast is present it needs to be investigated. So its giving different codes by clinicians through out the whole process.

So, lets go through the letters.
You have:

P: To show how palable it is
U- ultrasound
M-Mamogram
C-Cytology

Then you have the numbers.

1- Inadequate (not enough cells present)
2-negative
3- possible low grade cancer
4-low/grade ? high grade cancer
5- definate suspicion of a high grade malignancy

So for you to have this diagnosis, you must have had an ultrasound, mamogram where by they may have suspected a grade of 1 ? 5 but your cytology report, they must have taken a FNA ( a fine needle aspiration) of the breast and under microscopic evaluation, it looks malignant.

They may take a biopsy now just to confirm it.

Hope that helps
