England test squad for India's tour, Nov & Dec 2012.

England may have lost their No.1 rank on ICC charts but they continue to be one of the most consistently performing test teams around the world. Having said that, sub-continent remains unchartered territory for them..

Fact : England have won only one out of 12 tests in India since January 1985 when they won their last test series in the country, losing 3 series and drawing one since then.

Will 2012 be the fortune changing year for English side? only time will tell but here's the 16 member squad selected to participate in 4 test match series in November and December 2012.

Kevin Pietersen remains sidelined due to disciplinary issues while Andrew Strauss quit international cricket after handing over the test mace to South Africans earlier this year. Alastair Cook is now England's test captain and he's also the opener of the side, setting the example from the top. Nick Compton, the consistent run scorer for Somerset and Joe Root, a prominent name in Lions squad, are the two young options selectors have opted for the other opening slot.

Resilient Jonathan Trott, classical Ian Bell, and multi stroke maker Eoin Morgan will form the middle order for England and their biggest test will be the spinners Indians will field. Jonny Bairstow is another youngster who's been impressing for a while now and will hope for a slot in middle order.

Matt Prior is an experienced fighter of a wicket keeper visitors will be bringing.

English side is blessed with some of the bowlers who can bat really well and contribute down the order. Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann are three names Indian bowlers will have to remove before success is guranteed.

Fast bowling will be spearheaded by James Anderson whose swing will be utterly important with the new ball. Stuart Broad will be his parter in the crime while Steven Finn with his pace, Graham Onions with his accuracy and Tim Bresnan with his heavy balls will be the back-up options.

England selectors have paid extra attention to their spin department, adding Monty Panesar and Samit Patel to go with first choice Graeme Swann. All these three have had experience on Indian pitches before and since the conditions will be in their favour, how these three go will determine how England do on this tour.
