Georgetown School of Nursing to have greater internet access- Dr ...

Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran told the National Assembly that renewed efforts are underway to ensure the expansion of internet access at the Georgetown school of nursing.

The Health Minister was responding to a question put forward by Alliance for Change (AFC) member of Parliament Valerie Garrido-Lowe.

She questioned whether the Health Ministry has plans and how soon for providing broad internet service or wireless internet service to the Georgetown school of nursing, to assist the students with their research.

The Health Minister, in responding, stated that instructions to upscale the service were given towards the end of last year to the information technology (IT) unit of the ministry.

According to Minister Ramsaran, the execution of this activity has been slothful but plans are underway to renew the effort to see the service finally installed at the nursing school.

The Minister stated that it was noted that a significant number of nursing students already own personal laptop computers and they will be encouraged to use these in a prescribed manner in hot spots created in the school.

He added that the Ministry is in possession of computers and servers which will be installed when the minor civil works are completed.
