Baseball Open Thread ~ Championship Series, Recap: Girardi Tossed in 8th During Disputed Call (video added)

posted at 8:51 pm on October 15, 2012 by Rovin

There?s only one game on tap today, St. Louis @ San Francisco, 8:00 PM, (5:00 PM PACIFIC) on FOX.

The Giants, (and starter Madison Bumgarner), gave up six runs last night, (two in the 2nd and four in the 4th), before removing Bumgarner and parading in a slew of relievers that shut down the potent Cardinal?s offense.? Yet, enough damage was done, even with the Giants coming back in the bottom of the 4th netting four runs, while chasing starter Lance Lynn off the mound.? The Card?s bull pen also shut down the Giants the rest of the way for a final 6-4 win, giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the NLCS.

In the ALCS yesterday, the Detroit Tigers went up 2-0 in the series when starter Anibal Sanchez pitched seven strong innings, (allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, and 7 K?s), as the Jeter-less Yankees find themselves in a hole.? The Yanks have the day off to travel to Detroit for game three on Tuesday, (8 PM ET on TBS), and will try to find a way to get back into this series.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi was tossed in the eighth inning after umpire Jeff Nelson missed a call at second base.? Replays show Omar Infante was clearly out on a tag by Robinson Cano as Infante was scrambling back towards the bag.? The Yankees were only down 1-0 at the time of the call, yet failed to score any runs in the game.

Yankees? fans won?t like seeing this video, and we?ll probably see more calls for instant replay.
