A wind advisory is in effect for Western Washington from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning. Gusts between 45-50 mph are possible.
??
KING 5 Meteorologist Jeff Renner says a strong system is bringing windy conditions. Latest forecast

"Since trees are fully leafed out, those tend to act as sails, catching more wind," said Renner. "That raises the possibility of spotty power outages from falling limbs, and some urban flooding from leaf clogged storm drains."

Power was out on all of Vashon Island Monday afternoon and about 5,000 customers in Port Orchard lost power.

Fallen leaves could also clog storm drains and cause some urban flooding.

Showers could persist Tuesday, mainly in the convergence zone north of Seattle and near the foothills, gradually decreasing in the afternoon with some clearing.

"High pressure will move through on Wednesday for a partly sunny day after areas of morning clouds and fog," said Renner.? "Highs will remain mostly in the mid-50s."

In Astoria, Ore., high winds prompted transportation officials to close the Astoria-Megler bridge near the mouth of the Columbia River.
??
Oregon Transportation Department spokesman Rick Little said winds Monday evening threatened to detach segments of contractor work decks attached to the bridge. Workers have been repainting and repairing the bridge.
??
The National Weather Service said gusts to 40 mph had been reported nearby.
??
Little said weather conditions may improve after midnight Monday but motorists should anticipate a bridge closure that will last into Tuesday morning.
